Dalek Hat

I've been asked so many times for a pattern of a dalek hat, so here it is. I use a G hook for smaller hats (baby/child) and an H hook for teen/adult sizes.

You will need a main color, black, white, and what I like to call TARDIS Blue

BOBBLE: 4dc in indicated st, remove loop from hook and insert into first st. Insert hook in dropped loop and pull through, ch1 (the ch1 becomes your working st for next row.) and continue with pattern

You will be joining each round.

With your main color:

1. In MR, ch 2 (does NOT count as st here or throughout), dc 12, pull tight, join in first dc
2. ch2, dc inc in each st, join in first dc (24)
3. ch2, dc inc in 1st dc, 1 dc in next *dc inc in next, dc in next*, join in first dc (36)
4. ch2, dc inc in 1st dc, 1 dc in next 2, *dc inc, dc in 2*, join in first dc (48)
5. ch2, dc inc in 1st dc, dc in next 5, *dc inc, dc in next 5* around, join in first dc (56)
6.-7. ch2, dc around, join in first dc
8. ch 2, dc around, join in first dc change to black
9-11. in BLO ch2, dc around, join in first dc
12. Change back to main color, in BLO, ch2, and dc around, join in first dc
13. ch2, *7 dc in MC, change to black, bobble in next*, join in first dc
14. In main color, ch2, dc around, join in first dc
15. ch1, rvs sc around. f.o and weave in ends

Depending on the size you are making, you may want to do more or fewer rows. For a baby size, you could leave off the bobbles all together.

In main color, join in the FRONT LOOPs and sc around, you will chain 3  every 8 st to connect the rows to make the grid. The vertical lines should line up for the most part with the bobbles.

"Lights": sc 6 in a magic ring. You will be joining each round.
2. ch 1 and inc in each st.
3-6. sc around, f.o and stuff lightly. Use the tail to sew it to the hat

Eye/laser: Starting with royal blue, sc6 in a magic ring
2. sc inc in each st.  (12)
3. change to black. *inc in next, 1 sc in next* (18)
4. *inc in next, 1 sc in next 2* (24)
5.*inc in next, 1 sc in next 3* (30)
6. *inc in next, 1 sc in next 4*(36)
7-9. sc around
10. *dec in next, 1 sc in next 4* (30)
11. *dec in next, 1 sc in next 3* (24)
12. *dec in next, 1 sc in next 2* (18) f.o., leave tail for sewing

***if you want your eye bigger, continue inc in same pattern for a row or two
