Doctor Who Dalek Dress

Free free to make this pattern for personal use! Please do not post this pattern other places or use it to make items to sell on etsy or other business sites. (No one wants to be sued by BBC!) I do not own Doctor Who or any of the characters.

This is a nb sized dress. I used a G/6 hook ( 4.25 MM) you will need 2 skeins of yarn in different colors and some small buttons to sew on for the back.
Ch 39
Row 1: with main color sc in 2nd ch from hook and each st across, turn (38)
Row 2:ch1, sc in 1st st, *2sc in next st, sc in next*; repeat from * across to within 1 st from end of row. Sc in last st, turn. (56)
Row 3: ch1, sc in first st, 2sc in next st, *sc in next st, 2sc in next st* repeat from * across, turn (84)
Row 4: with 2nd color, ch 3 (counts as 1st dc, here and through row 10), dc in each st across, turn (84)
Rows 5&6: repeat row 4alternating colors (5 is with main color, 6 is with 2nd color)
Row 7: with main color, ch3, dc in next 12 sts, ch 2, sk next 16 sts, dc in next st (armhole made), dc in next 25 sts, ch2, sk next 16 sts, dc in next st (2nd armhole made), dc in next 12 sts, turn.
Row 8: ch1, sc in each dc and ch across, turn (56)
Row 9: with 2nd color, ch3, dc in each sc across, turn (56)
Row 10: ch1, sc in each dc across, join with sl st to first sc, do not turn
Row 11: working stitches in back side of sc (so that top of sc flairs outward)ch 2 (doesn’t count as dc from now on) *dc in next 13, 2 dc in 14th st* repeat from * around, sl st(60)
Row 12:increase evenly around to make 72 sts: ch1, *sc in next 4, 2 sc in next* around sl st
*Note: starting now, you will be adding in the bobbles for the skirt. On each 8th dc you will finish the st with your 2nd color. After the 5 tr sts for the bobble, you will finish the 5th st with your main color.
Row 13: ch2, *dc in 8, finishing with 2nd color, 5 tr in next st finished with main color* around ending with a sl st. You should have 8 bobbles.
Row 14: with your main color ch 2,* dc in 8. When you get to the bobble, loop though each BLO of the bobble creating one dc over the 5 bobble st. , repeat around. Sl st
Row 15: ch 2, dc around, sl st to join (72)
Rows 16-24: repeat rows 13-15 resulting in 4 rows of bobbles with 8 each. If necessary, adjust your bobble placement to result in vertical alignment of each.
Row 25: ch 1, sc around, sl st
Row 26: using the method for row 11, with your 2nd color, ch 2 and dc around. Sl st.
Row 27: ch 4 (this counts as a dc + ch1), sk next st *(2dc,ch1,2dc) in next st, ch1, sk next st, dc in next* repeat around. You may end up with an extra st at the end, but don’t worry. As long as you have the ‘shell’ and 1 dc in between each. Sl st in 3rd st of ch.
Row 28: ch 4 (this counts as your 1st tr)sk to 1st ch 1 sp of 1st shell, work 6 tr into sp. * sk next ch 1 sp and 2 dc, FPtr around next dc, sk next ch 1 sp and 2 dc, 6 tr in next ch 1 sp* repeat around sl st to beg ch.
